A native English translator and copyeditor

I am a native English speaker, born and raised in the UK and currently based in London.

As an advocate of plain English, I am passionate about helping you to communicate as effectively as possible. Whether that is reworking a piece you’ve already had translated into English, or doing a thorough edit of something written in English by a non-native speaker, I will make sure your communications are fit for purpose.

I am all about clarity, impact and making sure your voice is heard loud and clear, in keeping with your house style.

My approach

There are any number of ways to translate or to word any given sentence. I take the time to find out what you need to achieve, and how you like to communicate with your audiences, to make sure we get it right.

I take a collaborative approach, asking questions, flagging any ambiguities in meaning and highlighting instances where there may be a several possible solutions.

I love working with people who care about quality and see the value in communicating with people effectively, in language they understand.

Learning Spanish

I studied Spanish language and literature at university and have extensive experience of travelling, working and living in Spain and Latin America. As a result, I have a thorough understanding of the language, its variants and the cultural contexts of the countries in which it is spoken.

I have travelled in Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Bolivia and Uruguay; and I have lived and worked in Spain (Barcelona), Honduras (Tegucigalpa), Peru (Huancayo) and Argentina (Buenos Aires).

In the heart of London

My first role as Correspondence Officer for the Minister of State for Public Health had me liaising with policy teams to write, edit and proofread ministerial correspondence with MPs across a broad portfolio of public health policy areas, including HIV and AIDS, and global health.

From there, I moved into membership and communications at Bond (the UK network for international development), working on membership marketing, recruitment and services as well as communications, publications, and events involving a wide range of international organisations. I also worked on business development, including advertising and sponsorship opportunities for suppliers to the sector, producing media packs and brochures for conferences and exhibitions.

As a freelance reviewer and copyeditor, I am now based at a coworking studio in north London.

I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and the Society for Editors and Proofreaders, and have a Master’s degree in Translation and Professional Language Skills.

I edit content to help you maximise impact. Tell me what you need.
